Orchestrate - Terminology API

The Terminology API helps you make sense of the codes and concepts used in healthcare data. Leveraging relevant aspects of a FHIR terminology service, the Terminology API makes use of standard code systems and value sets to map and classify inputs to common references.

The Terminology API supports the following operations:

• Standardize takes an input code and/or free text and finds matching codings from several reference code systems. The specific reference code systems used depends on the domain. For example, medication codes may be standardized using codings from RxNorm and NDC, while report types may use LOINC and SNOMED.

• Classify takes an input coding and provides a set of classifications based on the domain. For example, a medication code may be classified by its ingredient and strength, while a condition is classified by clinical category and acute vs. chronic.
