Patients Dashboard

The Patients Dashboard allows you to browse your recent patients, search for patients, and view patient details.

Accessing the Patients Dashboard

Orchestrate Server opens the patient dashboard when you log in. You can also access it by selecting “Patients” from the main menu.

By default, the dashboard will show your recent patients. You can also return to your recent patients view by clicking the “Recent” button.

Searching for Patients

You can search for patients using various common search terms. For full patient search capability, see FHIR Search.

Search by Name

You can search by first and/or last name. Each can be selected as either a “Starts With”, “Exact”, or “Contains” search.

Search by Date of Birth

You can search by date of birth, using exact matches only.

Search by Identifier

You can search by the Patient.identifier.value field, using exact matches only.

Identifier searches are configurable, making it possible to have different searches based on different identifier system values. For example, you might have separate searches for Health Card ID numbers, member numbers, SSNs, etc. as befits your organization.

Search by Facility

You can search for patients currently at a facility. The facility search looks for Encounter.location.name values starting with the specified search text.

Facility searches are configurable, so you can set up zero or more search fields for different kinds of facilities. For example, you might set up different search boxes for “Facility” and “Unit”.

Viewing Patient Details (Broadview)

When you select any patient from the list, you see their data in the Broadview clinical data viewer. This provides a high-level summary of their medical history, including demographics, problems, hospital visits, medications, labs/procedures, and more. You can also access the Broadview viewer by right-clicking on a patient in the search results and selecting “Open Broadview”.

Patient Timeline

The patient’s inpatient/emergency visits will show up as events on the timeline view.

Using the magnifying glass buttons at the right, you can zoom in or out of the timeline.

The info button shows a legend for the timeline events.

Navigation Controls

In the upper left corner of the clinical data view are the navigation controls.

  • The back button will return you to the dashboard.
  • The panel button will split the view so you can see the patient list and patient details at the same time.

Filtering by Date

Use the date selector to change the date range. You can select a common pre-defined interval, or pick specific start/end dates in the calendar. Narrowing the date range can help focus on recent problems.

Filtering by Keyword

The keyword filter will only show records that display the specified keyword in their panel values.

If you also check the “Show related data” box, the system will include records associated with encounters in the filtered search results, even if those other records do not themselves contain the keyword. For example, if you search for “chest pain” on a cardiac patient and there’s an encounter with a diagnosis of “chest pain”, selecting related data could include any providers or labs associated with that encounter.

You can also see relationships between records by clicking on a record. Related records will be highlighted.

Print-Friendly View

Clicking the printer button next to the timeline will show a printer-friendly report of the patient’s most important data. It does not include all records.
